This exam is not just about knowing what to attempt but also about identifying what to skip. You must have the ability to glance through the question and be able to skip it if it seems too lengthy.
What to Study:
  • Firstly, give a mock test of prelims as well as mains exam. This will help you get an idea of the exam pattern as well as the type of questions asked in the exam. Try to analyze your weak and strong points. There’s no point in solving mocks if you don’t keep track of your shortcomings and improve them.
  • Try to spend at least 2 hours daily on every subject. Practice more and more questions daily based on the latest pattern and cover each and every topic.
  • Prepare current affairs of last 4-5 months properly. This can be a scoring section and can help in clearing the overall cutoff. Remember you cannot mug up GK at the last minute.
  • Start learning vocab words daily.
  • Practice with the latest pattern based study material and books. Try to take at least 3-4 mocks tests weekly and analyze them. Analysis of progress is very important, don’t just blindly follow any plan.
  • Give extra time to your weak topics and improve upon them.
  • Work on your calculation speed as speed is what matters when it comes to competitive examinations.

What NOT TO DO:
  • When preparing for such type of exams, you cannot rely only on chapter wise preparations. You have to increase your level of questions after clearing your basics and have to try to complete the questions in a stipulated amount of time.
  • You have to work more upon your strong topics so that you can attempt those questions easily in exam. As sectional timing of 20 minutes is being introduced, so must know what to skip and what to attempt in your exam. Do not attempt those questions which you think are difficult for you to attempt.
  • English will be a game changer this time. Do not just study the rules or practice chapter wise questions. Practice more and more questions of the type that are asked in the exam.

Now you don’t have time to waste. Start preparing or you will be left behind in the race.
