UPSC CSE Prelims Exam Guidelines for 16 June
On the day of the UPSC CSE Prelims Examination 2024, candidates must respect the following guidelines
- Carry the Admit Card: Carry a printout of the admit card to the examination centre. No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam hall without it.
- Valid Photo ID proof: Bring a valid photo identity proof (such as Aadhar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, Passport, driving licence, etc.)
- Prohibited Items: Do not Carry any prohibited items inside the examination hall.
- Arrival Time: Reach the examination hall well in advance to avoid last-minute rushes and delays.
UPSC CSE Prelims Exam Pattern 2024
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) Prelims Exam Pattern 2024 consists of two papers. Paper-I, General Studies, assesses candidates’ knowledge in subjects like History, Geography, Economics, Polity, Science, and Current Affairs. Paper-II, known as CSAT, evaluates candidates’ aptitude in comprehension, interpersonal skills, logical reasoning, analytical ability, decision-making, problem-solving, and general mental ability. Each paper is of 2 hours duration and carries 200 marks. Both papers comprise multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Negative marking applies, with one-third of the marks deducted for incorrect answers. Clearing the cutoff in both papers is necessary to qualify for the UPSC CSE Mains Exam.
