UPSC CSE Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) Prelims Exam Pattern  2024 consists of two papers. Paper-I, General Studies, assesses candidates’ knowledge in subjects like History, Geography, Economics, Polity, Science, and Current Affairs. Paper-II, known as CSAT, evaluates candidates’ aptitude in comprehension, interpersonal skills, logical reasoning, analytical ability, decision-making, problem-solving, and general mental ability. Each paper is of 2 hours duration and carries 200 marks. Both papers comprise multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Negative marking applies, with one-third of the marks deducted for incorrect answers. Clearing the cutoff in both papers is necessary to qualify for the UPSC CSE Mains Exam.
