About National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF):
This ranking is released every year since September 2015 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India (GoI). NIRF has created an institution for ranking universities, engineering, management and pharmacy institutes of the country. Earlier there was no government organization for ranking as only private institutions used to issue ranking, which raised various questions. But now government and private institutions are ranked by the government on the basis of different standards.
