Twitter verified badge to cost $8 a month

Twitter verified badge to cost $8 a month: Elon Musk has announced that the Twitter Blue service will cost USD 8 per month (about Rs 660). The coveted verified badge is included in Twitter Blue. Twitter’s new CEO stated his intention to increase subscriptions and make social media networks less reliant on advertisements.

What is Twitter Blue?

Twitter Blue is not a new feature that Elon Musk is introducing. It is an existing subscription-based service that provides additional features and is currently available in a limited number of countries. It is now available in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Undo Tweet, bookmark folders, themes, custom app icons, custom navigation, and other features are available in the service. Twitter Blue subscribers get dedicated support for any problems they may encounter. Furthermore, when Twitter introduces new features, some of them are available first to Twitter Blue users. However, the current Twitter Blue plan does not include a reduction in the number of ads displayed.

What is a verification badge?

The verified badge, which looks like a blue tick, indicates that Twitter has confirmed that the account belongs to the person or company claiming it. The service is currently provided free of charge to all users. However, this would be the first time that users would be required to pay a fee to keep the verified badge. The price will be adjusted based on the country and purchasing power parity. In order to distinguish between a real actor, politician, or journalist, a secondary tag would appear beneath the name of a public figure.

What are the perks that will be offered to the subscribers of Twitter Blue?

  • Those who pay for Twitter Blue will receive priority in replies, mentions, and search, which Musk believes is essential in combating spam and scam on the platform.
  • Users will be able to post long videos and audio files. It is currently available for a limited number of accounts. Long videos and audio cannot be posted by all verified accounts. Users will see half as many advertisements as they do now. It is worth noting that even if you pay for the services, advertisements will continue to exist.
  • Twitter may work with publishers to provide a way for Twitter Blue subscribers to bypass paywalls. That means that if you subscribe to Twitter Blue, you may gain access to news portals, streaming services, and other services that keep their content behind paywalls. To gain access to content behind a paywall, the process may include using Twitter to log in on those platforms.
  • Twitter Blue revenue would provide the company with a revenue stream for content creators. It is worth mentioning that Twitter has a section for content creators to monetize their accounts, but this is only available to a select group of creators. Musk appears to be planning to make it available to all content creators very soon.
