Rishi Kapoor, one of the biggest face of Indian Cinema passed away at age 67 after a long battle with leukemia, a type of cancer in H.N Reliance Hospital. The actor, who was known for his charm among his fans and had a scintillating debut in 1973’s ‘Bobby’, had been ailing for a while. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, after which, he underwent treatment in New York for almost a year. In September 2019, he returned to India but was rarely seen in public or on any other media platform since.

On Wednesday morning, the actor was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai after he complained of uneasiness and was admitted in ICU.
Amitabh Bachchan, one of his collegues and good friend, took to Twitter to mourn the death of his co-star in multiple films. He wrote, “Rishi Kapoor… gone… passed away. I am destroyed !”
About Rishi Kapoor
He was a phenomenol actor, director and producer known for his tremendous work in Hindi cinema. He received the National Film Award for his debut role as a child artist in his fathers Raj Kapoor’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker in 1970 which was one of the biggest hit of that time. Kapoor was in a lead role as an adult opposite Dimple Kapadia in 1973 with the film Bobby and received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1974 for his next boy door performance.

He was known as the romantic boy of bollywood and has played leading roles as the romantic lead in 92 films between 1973 and 2000, of which 36 were box office hits. He won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor in 2011, for his performance in Do Dooni Chaar, and he also won he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017, for his role in Kapoor & Sons. In 2008, He was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. From 1973 and 1981, he appeared opposite his wife Neetu Singh in twelve films
Early Life
Rishi Kapoor was born in Chembur, Bombay in the family of actors as Rishi Raj Kapoor. He was the second son of actor, director, producer Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna Raj Kapoor. He was also the grandson of actor Prithviraj Kapoor, one of the great actor of his own time. He completed his schooling with his brothers at Campion School, Mumbai and Mayo College, Ajmer.
First introduction to films
His first ever introcution in a movie was for Raj Kapoor’s Shree 420, where in the song “Pyaar Hua, Iqraar Hua”, he can be seen walking through the rain with 2 other small children. His age was 3 at the time, and he once stated Nargis had bribed him to do the scene with some chocolate.

His career
Rishi Kapoor debuted in Raj Kapoor’s (his father) 1970 film Mera Naam Joker, where he played a childhood role of his father. He had his first lead role as an adult, opposite Dimple Kapadia in the 1973 film Bobby for which his father initially wanted to caste Rajesh Khanna but he did not had money that time. Bobby turned out to be the biggest hit of the decade.
His 11 films out of 51 solo hero films were successful at the box office, and 25 of the 41 multi-hero films were successful at the box office. From 1973 to 2000, Rishi Kapoor had 51 films as the solo lead hero but 40 of them were box office flops and only 11 managed to be hits. The name of some of his iconic movies are Bobby , Laila Majnu, Rafoo Chakkar , Sargam, Karz, PremRog, Nagina, Honeymoon, Chandni, Heena and Bol Radha Bol, Yeh Vaada Raha.
In 1999 he also tried his hand in directing and directed the film Aa Ab Laut Chalen, starring Rajesh Khanna, Aishwarya Rai and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles.

2001–2020
In the last two decade of his life, he moved on to supporting roles . He has since appeared in films like Yeh Hai Jalwa (2002), Hum Tum (2004), Fanaa (2006), Namastey London (2007), Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Patiala House (2010) and was appreciated for his acting. He also appeared in the British films Don’t Stop Dreaming (2007) and Sambar Salsa (2008). In 2010, He reunited onscreen with Neetu Singh in the film Do Dooni Chaar which also stars Ranbir Kapoor( his son).
