1.Swathe (noun)

Meaning 1.a broad strip or area of something.


Example-1″vast swathes of countryside”

Meaning 2.a row or line of grass, corn, or other crop as it falls or lies when mown or reaped.
Example-2″if the day is windy, the swathes should be high and narrow”
Example-3 It has annexed Crimea, controls a swathe of eastern Ukraine through proxy rebels, and enjoys access to military facilities in Syria, Iran, Egypt, and soon enough Libya

2.Wedge (noun)
Meaning-1. a piece of wood, metal, etc. having one thick end and tapering to a thin edge, that is driven between two objects or parts of an object to secure or separate them.
Example-1 “the door was secured by a wedge”
synonyms: tapered block, chock, door stop
Example-2 “the door was secured by a wedge”
Example-3 Diplomatically, it has driven a formidable wedge between Turkey and NATO, while deepening ties with Western allies from Israel to Japan.
3.Audacious (adjective)
Meaning-showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks.
Example-1″a series of audacious takeovers”
Example-2 Meanwhile in Washington, Russia’s audacious election meddling has made it a toxic quantity in Congress and in parts of the administration, making it hard to envisage a grand bargain, even setting aside the serious differences over Iran and arms control.

4.Enmesh (verb)
Meaning-1 cause to become entangled in something.
Example-1 “whales enmeshed in drift nets”
Meaning-2 involve (someone) in a difficult situation from which it is hard to escape.
Example-2 “he is enmeshed in an adulterous affair”
Example-3 In short, Russia has gained diplomatic influence at the cost of goodwill and growth, while enmeshing itself in several open-ended wars.

5.Dither (verb)
Meaning- be indecisive.
Example-1 “I can’t bear people who dither”
synonyms: hesitate, falter, waver, teeter, vacillate, oscillate, fluctuate, change one’s mind, be in two minds, be ambivalent, be indecisive, be unsure, be undecided;
Example-2 Russia has created power only where it has been able to change facts on the ground, usually by force of arms, and only where larger, richer, and more cohesive Western forces have dithered or abstained.
6.Renegade (noun)
Meaning 1. a person who deserts and betrays an organization, country, or set of principles.
Example-1 “an agent who later turns out to be a renegade”
synonyms: traitor, defector, deserter, turncoat, betrayer;
Example- 2 Russia has been flirting with renegade Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar for some time, hosting him aboard the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov in January as an eye-catching gimmick.
7. Bluster (verb)
Meaning 1.talk in a loud, aggressive, or indignant way with little effect.
Example -1 “you threaten and bluster, but won’t carry it through”
synonyms: rant, thunder;
Example -2 Meanwhile, Russia can pose as a powerful regional broker. But a campaign of disinformation, bluster, and summitry can only take Moscow so far in the absence of any actual leverage.
8.Opaque (adjective)
Meaning 1.not able to be seen through; not transparent.
Example -1 “bottles filled with a pale opaque liquid”
synonyms: non-transparent, cloudy, filmy, blurred, smeared, hazy, misty, dirty, dingy, muddy, grimy, smeary
Example-2 While Pakistan hungrily absorbs Chinese investment and India looks globally for an infusion of capital, Russia has almost nothing to offer, beyond the politically opaque machinations of state-dominated energy companies.
9.Manoeuvre (noun)
Meaning – a movement or series of moves requiring skill and care.
Example-1 “snowboarders performed daring manoeuvres on precipitous slopes”
synonyms: operation, exercise, activity, move, movement, action
Example-2  But even if it had the resources, Moscow’s room for manoeuvre would be very limited.
10. Prudent (adjective)
Meaning – acting with or showing care and thought for the future.
Example-1 “no prudent money manager would authorize a loan without first knowing its purpose”
synonyms: wise, well judged, judicious, sagacious, sage, shrewd, advisable, well advised, politic, sensible,
Example-2  In an age of geopolitical uncertainty — the rise of China, the growth of nationalism, and the erosion of U.S. leadership — hedging is prudent.
