Example: The Ministry of Civil Aviation has asked the Ministry of Finance to postpone the rollout of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1 to September 1 as some domestic airlines, including national carrier Air India, have expressed their inability to switch to a new tax regime soon.

1. Regime [ruh-zheem, rey-, or, sometimes, -jeem] Noun: a mode or system of rule or government; a ruling or prevailing system; a government in power.
Synonyms: administration, establishment, government, management, reign, rule, system.

Example: The Finance Ministry had on Wednesday scotched all speculation about any shift in the GST implementation date and had asserted that the new indirect tax system would indeed be implemented from July 1.

2. Scotch [skoch] Verb: to put a definite end to; crush; stamp out; foil; to cut, gash, or score; to injure so as to make harmless; to block or prop with a wedge or chock.
Noun: a cut, gash, or score.
Synonyms: stop, annul, cease, counteract, deaden, defeat, extinguish.
Antonyms: agitate, aid, allow, approve, assist, authorize, build.

Example: Cabinet clears 5% interest subvention for crop loans Scheme for farmers will continue for one year.

3. Subvention [suh b-ven-shuh n] Noun: a grant of money, as by a government or some other authority, in aid or support of some institution or undertaking, especially in connection with science or the arts; the furnishing of aid or relief.
Synonyms: admission, allocation, allotment, alms, appropriation, assistance, award.
Antonyms: denial, disadvantage, refusal, repudiation.

Example: “The Central government will provide interest subvention of 5% per annum to all prompt payee farmers for short-term crop loan up to one year for loan up to ₹3 lakh borrowed by them during the year 2017-18,” the government said in a statement.

4. Prompt [prompt] Adjective: done, performed, delivered, etc., at once or without delay; ready in action; quick to act as occasion demands; quick or alert.
Verb: to move or induce to action: to occasion or incite; inspire.
Synonyms: efficient, expeditious, immediate, instantaneous, precise, punctual, quick.
Antonyms: delayed, late, later, slow, sluggish, tardy.

5. Payee [pey-ee] Noun: a person to whom a check, money, etc., is payable.
Synonyms: beneficiary, collector, consignee, casher.

Example: BJP for consensus on presidential candidate Ministers to meet Sonia, Yechury.

6. Consensus [kuh n-sen-suh s] Noun: majority of opinion; general agreement or concord; harmony.
Synonyms: accord, consent, harmony, unanimity, unity, concord.
Antonyms: denial, disagreement, dissension, opposition, refusal, discord.

Example: The government’s outreach came on a day the nine-member Opposition sub-committee set up to discuss candidates for the presidential and vice-presidential polls held a preliminary meeting here on Wednesday.

7. Outreach [verb out-reech; noun, adjective out-reech] Verb: to reach beyond; exceed; to reach out; extend; to reach out.
Noun: an act or instance of reaching out; length or extent of reach.
Synonyms: eclipse, outpace, outstrip, top, beat, best, better, cap.
Antonyms: fall behind, fail, lose, surrender, be inferior.

Example: He later spoke in favour of the sanctions against Qatar, unmindful of the fact that the Gulf monarchy hosts the largest U.S. military base in West Asia.

8. Sanction [sangk-shuh n] Noun: authoritative permission or approval, as for an action; something that serves to support an action, condition, etc.; Law. a provision of a law enacting a penalty for disobedience or a reward for obedience.
Verb: to authorize, approve, or allow; to ratify or confirm.
Synonyms: approval, acquiescence, allowance, approbation, assent, authority, backing, confirmation.
Antonyms: denial, disagreement, disapproval, discouragement, opposition, prohibition.

9. Unmindful [uhn-mahynd-fuh l] Adjective: not mindful; unaware; heedless; forgetful; careless; neglectful.
Synonyms: forgetful, abstracted, careless, heedless, inadvertent, inattentive.
Antonyms: attentive, aware, conscious, mindful, witting.

10. Monarchy [mon-er-kee] Noun: a state or nation in which the supreme power is actually or nominally lodged in a monarch; supreme power or sovereignty held by a single person.
Synonyms: sovereignty, throne, command, crown, kingdom.
