1.Dreadful (adjective)
Meaning: causing or involving great suffering, fear, or unhappiness; extremely bad or serious.
synonyms: terrible, frightful, horrible, grim, awful, dire
Example: The dreadful violence and low turnout in a by-election in Kashmir has again raised intense debate in New Delhi. Unfortunately this debate has been mainly abusive rather than productive, and as a result it has masked the real issues.


2.Rabid (adjective)
Meaning: having or proceeding from an extreme or fanatical support of or belief in something.
synonyms: extreme, fanatical, overzealous, over-enthusiastic, extremist, violent, maniacal, wild, passionate, fervent, die-hard, uncompromising.
Example: Somehow we have created a binary in which there are only two opposing groups — those in mainland India who consider Kashmiris to be pro-Pakistan Wahhabis who support terrorism, and those in the Valley who consider Indians to be rabid communalists.

3.Reconciliation (noun)
Meaning: the restoration of friendly relations.
synonyms: reuniting, reunion, bringing (back) together (again), conciliation, reconcilement.
Example: Nor can we deny that at least one major cause of this anger is the lack of a peace and reconciliation process, which the Bharatiya Janata Party-Peoples Democratic Party (BJP-PDP) coalition promised, or that another major cause is the lack of an honest and accountable administration.

4.Feasible (adjective)
Meaning: possible and practical to do easily or conveniently.
synonyms: practicable, practical, workable, achievable, attainable, realizable, viable, 
realistic, sensible, reasonable, within reason, within the bounds of possibility;
Example: In the absence of a political and reconciliation process, asking security forces to show restraint in the face of constant stoning is not feasible.

5.Foster (verb)
Meaning: encourage the development of (something, especially something desirable).
synonyms: encourage, promote, further, stimulate, advance, forward, cultivate, nurture, strengthen, enrich, help, aid, abet, assist, contribute to, support, endorse, champion, speak for, proselytize, sponsor, espouse, uphold, back, boost, give backing to, facilitate 
Example: What about the role of Pakistan? History shows us that they have tried to foster an anti-India jihad in Jammu and Kashmir since 1947 but without much success until the late 1980s, by which time Article 370 of the Constitution had been rendered a dead letter.

6.Traitorous (adjective)
Meaning: relating to or characteristic of a traitor; treacherous.
synonyms: treacherous, disloyal, treasonous, back-stabbing.
Example: But our failure to seize windows for political reconciliation has played into Pakistani hands and it is doing so again, while we waste our time in futile debates about who is more nationalist amongst Indians and who is more traitorous amongst Kashmiris.

7.Dissident (noun)
Meaning: a person who opposes official policy, especially that of an authoritarian state.
synonyms: dissenter, objector, protester, disputant.
Example: As innumerable commentators have pointed out, the best way to prevent Pakistan from making hay is for talks with Kashmiri dissidents.

8.Lumpen (adjective)
Meaning: of or relating to dispossessed and uprooted individuals cut off from the economic and social class with which they might normally be identified.
Example: There are many within the Hurriyat who would consider talks again, just as there are many in the Valley who are worried about the lumpenisation of Islam that the stone-pelters represent.

9.Robust (adjective)
Meaning: strong and healthy; vigorous.
synonyms: strong, vigorous, sturdy, tough, powerful, powerfully built, solidly built, as strong as a horse/ox, muscular, sinewy, rugged, hardy, strapping, brawny, burly, husky.
Example: Enhanced economic and development ties are welcome and crucial for the neighbouring countries, but they should not bypass robust engagement on traditional political concerns in the island nation, where scores of Tamils and Muslims in the north and east are yet to return to normal lives eight years after the civil war ended. 

10.Incursion (noun)
Meaning: an invasion or attack, especially a sudden or brief one.
synonyms: attack on, assault on, raid on, invasion of, storming of, overrunning of, foray into, blitz on, sortie into, sally against/into, advance on/into, push into, thrust into, descent on.
Example: Resolving the long-standing Palk Bay conflict between fishermen of both countries is central to this, and New Delhi must address the valid concern of Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen about incursions from Tamil Nadu  into Sri Lankan waters.
