Hello Everyone,

I am Shamik Barman from Cooch Behar, West Bengal. I completed my B. Tech in ECE in 2016 from Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, Kolkata. After that, I joined TCS and worked there as an Assistant system engineer but deep inside I wanted to be a banker. So, I left my job and started preparing for bank exams and especially for IBPS SO.

But my journey was not as smooth as I expected. I had to go through a series of rejections.

I appeared for IBPS SO exam for the first time in 2017 and that year I could not even clear the prelims. I realized that to clear the prelims I need to keep practicing and taking mock tests and decided to appear seriously in every bank exam in the next year. I failed in every prelims exam that year but my strategy proved to be fruitful and finally, I was able to crack the IBPS PO prelims exam in 2018 and that boosted my confidence but I failed in mains exam due to lack of preparations. That year I also cleared the prelims and mains of the IBPS SO exam but I could not make it to the final list due to 4.5 marks. This broke me and made me devastated but somehow I kept myself motivated and shifted my focus towards study.

In 2019, I followed the same strategy again and this year I cleared all the prelims exams but every time due to a few marks I could not make it to the final list. I also appeared for SBI SO for the post of IT officer but again failed. Finally, with God’s grace, I cleared the IBPS SO exam and got provisional allotment in Canara bank.

My marks in prelims: 83.50/125; Mains: 30/60 and in mains and interview combined after normalization I got 52/100.

For the IT officer mains exam I Purchased an ACE IT Officer professional knowledge book from the Adda247 which was very helpful for my quick revision. For the IT officer’s mains exam the more you solve questions the more helpful it will be to get a good mark.
