Maharashtra

• CM: Eknath Shinde

• CM Eknath Shinde announces that ‘Dahi-Handi’ will be recognized as an official sport in Maharashtra. The state is set to organize a ‘Pro- Dahi Handi’
• Mumbai lawyer & first-time legislator, Rahul Narwekar elected as the youngest Speaker (16^th) of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly & also becomes the youngest ever in India to hold this Constitutional post
• The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Maharashtra Metro achieved the world record for constructing the longest double-decker viaduct with a length of 3.14 km in Nagpur.
• 17th edition : Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short Fiction, & Animation films (MIFF-2022) began with a colourful opening ceremony at Nehru Centre, Worli in Mumbai, Maharashtra
• On 2^nd June 2022, the government of Maharashtra launched the faceless Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) to help the citizens of the state avail facilities such as driving licences, etc, without the need of being physically present at the RTOs.
• A loan scheme named Jivhala has been launched by the Maharashtra Department of Prisons for the inmates who are serving sentences in various jails across Maharashtra.
• Union Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari has launched India’s first electric double-decker bus at YB Centre in south Mumbai. The name of the bus is “Switch EiV 22”
• The government of Maharashtra has developed a website-based migration tracking system (MTS) to track the movement of the vulnerable seasonal migrant workers through individual unique identification numbers that will be assigned to them

Manipur

• Asia’s Oldest Football Tournament Durand Cup. The 131st edition of the Durand Cup 2022 in Manipur. The inaugural match will be held at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal.
• In Northeastern states category, Manipur topped the third edition of NITI Aayog’s India Innovation Index, which ranks the states and the union territories on their innovation performance.
• On January 27, 2022, the first goods train reached the Rani Gaidinliu station of Manipur. This is the first freight train to enter Manipur after 75 years. This shows the rapid transformation happening in the state of Manipur.

Meghalaya

• CM: Conrad Kongkal Sangma
• Governor: Satya Pal Malik
• Meghalaya is all set to host the upcoming 2nd edition of the North East Olympics from 30th October.
• Meghalaya  has announced that the government has earmarked Rs 300 crore from the externally aided projects to make investments in early childhood education programme
• The Meghalaya government key initiative of e-proposal system, part of Meghalaya Enterprise Architect has won a coveted UN Award- World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) prize at Geneva,
• The former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, James Dringwell Rymbai, died at the age of 88.

Mizoram

• Governor:  Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati
• Northern States Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh celebrate their Foundation Day on February 20, since 1987

Nagaland

• CM: Neiphiu Guolhoulie Rio
• Governor: Jagdish Mukhi
• North-east state, Nagaland got its second railway station after a gap of more than 119 years with the commissioning of a new facility at Shokhuvi. Dimapur Railway Station, in the heart of the commercial hub of the state, was inaugurated in 1903.
• During his visit to Nagaland, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, officially inaugurated the Dimapur Honey Testing Laboratory.
• The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed an agreement to provide a $2 million project readiness financing (PRF) loan to Nagaland.
