IBPS PO and IBPS RRB PO both the exams are conducted by the same organization but still the examinations differ in terms of work structure, job profile, educational qualification, pay scale, exam level, and selection process.

Job Profile
IBPS PO conducts an examination of Probationary Officers (PO) to fill the vacancies in nationalized banks. A person appointed as IBPS PO gets all-India posting, which means he/she will be posted at a bank located in one of their preferred locations. The career growth of an IBPS PO is much better since there are frequent promotional opportunities.
IBPS RRB PO is conducted to fill the vacancies in Regional Rural Banks. A candidate is posted in rural regions after the selection. The objective of this profile is to promote banking awareness and facilitate banking services in remote areas. The RRB PO profile is confined to agricultural finance, handicrafts, and small sector loans.
Educational Qualification
IBPS PO examination is conducted in three phases namely: Prelims, Mains and Interview as well as the examination for IBPS RRB PO will be held in 3 phases.
For both the job profiles the eligibility criteria is the bachelor’s degree from a recognized university but in IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university is a must. Preference will be given to candidates having a background in Horticulture, Forestry, Agriculture, Economics, Management, Law, Economics, Agricultural Marketing, and Cooperation.

This is the final stage of the recruitment procedure for IBPS PO. A total of 100 marks are allotted for the Personal Interview round.

IBPS RRB PO Prelims (Phase-I)
Duration: 45 minutes; no sectional timing.

Salary Structure
The Pay scale for IBPS PO is Rs.23, 700. It amounts to a gross salary of Rs.38, 703 including House Rent Allowance.
The Pay scale for IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I is 14500-600/7-18700-700/2-20100-800/7-25700. The in-hand salary at present varies from Rs.29, 000-33,000 at 100% D.A.
