The SBI PO exam consists of 3 main phases:

  • Prelims: This is the first round where candidates take an online test that contains 100 questions for 100 marks. Candidates who meet the cut-off will move on to the next round. It is qualifying in nature
  • Mains: The second stage includes an objective test and a descriptive test (50 marks). The descriptive test is held right after the objective test. Shortlisted candidates from this stage will move on to the interview.
  • Psychometric Test and Interview: The final stage includes a psychometric test to check the candidate’s personality, followed by an interview. The final selection is based on performance in all stages combined.

SBI PO Syllabus For Descriptive Test

In the SBI PO 2024 Mains exam, candidates will have to appear for two papers: Objective and Descriptive. The descriptive paper will be 50 marks comprising two questions: letter writing and essay writing. The time duration for the descriptive test is 30 minutes. To qualify for the descriptive test, candidates need to have command over their writing skills. Along with the preparation for the objective test, aspirants should also commence their preparation for the descriptive test.

SBI PO Group Discussion and Interview

The final stage of SBI PO is the Group Discussion and Interview. Candidates can check the following important points regarding the SBI PO Group Discussion and Personal Interview below:

  1. The Group Exercise is of 20 marks and 30 marks will be allotted for the Interview.
  2. Candidates qualifying for Group Exercises and Interviews under the ‘OBC’ category would be required to submit an OBC certificate containing the ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ clause.
  3. Candidates should score minimum qualifying marks in this phase to be considered for final selection.
  4. The ratio of marks considered for mains and interviews is 75:25; Therefore, students cannot take this section lightly.
