SBI PO Exam Pattern 2025
The SBI PO 2025 exam follows a three-stage selection process: Prelims, Mains, and the Interview. Candidates must qualify in each stage to proceed further. SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern
- The Prelims is the first stage of the SBI PO 2025 exam, conducted as an online test.
- It is qualifying in nature, and candidates must clear the cut-off to advance to the next stage.
- A negative marking system is applied, with a 1/4th mark deduction for each incorrect answer.
- The exam carries a total of 100 marks, without sectional weightage.

- Reasoning Ability – 30 Questions | 20 Minutes
- Quantitative Aptitude – 30 Questions | 20 Minutes
- Total – 100 Questions | 60 Minutes
SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern 2025
- The Mains is the second stage of the SBI PO 2025 exam, consisting of an Objective Test and a Descriptive Test.
- The Descriptive Test is conducted immediately after the Objective Test.
- The Objective Test includes 170 questions from four sections, carrying a total of 200 marks.
- The total duration for the Objective Test is 180 minutes (3 hours).
- There is a negative marking, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect response.
- The Descriptive Test assesses communication skills through Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis & Precis Writing, carrying 50 marks and must be completed in 30 minutes.
- Candidates must clear the minimum score in each section and the Descriptive Paper individually. Cut-offs are determined based on vacancies, and only qualified candidates proceed to Phase III.

SBI PO Syllabus For Descriptive Test
The Descriptive Section of the SBI PO Mains 2025 assesses candidates’ communication skills through tasks like emails, reports, situation analysis, and summary writing. The final stage of SBI PO is the Group Discussion and Interview. Candidates can check the following important points regarding the SBI PO Group Discussion and Personal Interview below:
- The Group Exercise is of 20 marks and 30 marks will be allotted for the Interview.
- Candidates qualifying for Group Exercises and Interviews under the ‘OBC’ category would be required to submit an OBC certificate containing the ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ clause.
- Candidates should score minimum qualifying marks in this phase to be considered for final selection.
- The ratio of marks considered for mains and interviews is 75:25; Therefore, students cannot take this section lightly.
