SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern 2025

The SBI PO Mains is the second stage of the exam, consisting of an objective test and a descriptive test. The objective test includes 170 questions from sections such as English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness, carrying 200 marks, with a time limit of 180 minutes. Negative marking applies, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer. Following the objective test, candidates must complete a Descriptive Test on Communication Skills (Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis, & Precis Writing), which is worth 50 marks and must be finished in 30 minutes.

  1. The Main Examination will be conducted online and will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Tests for 50 marks.
  2. There will be four sections and a descriptive section.
  3. The SBI PO Mains Descriptive Test 2025 assesses Communication Skills, including tasks such as writing Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis, and Precis Writing. This section carries a total of 50 marks, and candidates are required to complete it within 30 minutes.
  4. There will be a penalty for every incorrect answer marked by the candidate. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty to arrive at a corrected score
  5. If a question is left blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
