The day is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across the nation. The theme of this year’s Republic Day 2023 is “Jan Bhagidari” (participation of the common people).
Republic Day: History
The constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. The day of 26th January was chosen as it was the anniversary of Purna Swaraj Day, which was celebrated on 26th January 1930, as a day of independence from the British colonial regime.
Republic Day 2023: Significance
The Indian Constitution is one of the longest and most detailed in the world, it was drafted by BR Ambedkar. On this day, in many parts of the country flag hoisting and parade are held, but the most important of all these parades are held at New Delhi, in which all states show their culture and heritage through Tableau. The Republic Day of India is celebrated as a national holiday across the country.
Republic Day 2023: Celebration
On this special day, every year a grand parade takes place on Rajpath from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan. This parade is conducted by the Indian President and is arranged by the Ministry of Defence. Various regiments of the Indian Navy, Army, and Air take part in this parade, and tableaus are presented by various states of our country.
