Reasoning Questions for IBPS Clerk
Directions (1-2): Study the information given below carefully and answer the questions that follow.
On a playground, Dinesh, Kunal, Nitin, Atul and Prashant are standing as described below, facing the North.
(i) Kunal is 40 metres to the right of Atul.
(ii) Dinesh is 60 metres to the south of Kunal.
(iii) Nitin is 25 metres to the west of Atul.
(iv) Prashant is 90 metres to the north of Dinesh.
Q1. Who is to the north-east of the person who is to the left of Kunal?
Q2. If a boy walks from Nitin’s position, meets Kunal, then Dinesh and then Prashant, how many metres has he walked if he has travelled the straight distance all through?
Q3.In a row of children, Neha is ninth from the left and Komal is thirteenth from the right. They exchange their positions and then Neha becomes seventeenth from the left. Find the new position of Komal from the right end of the row.
So, number of children in the row = (16+1+12)
= 29.
Now, Komal’s new position is Neha’s earlier position which is 9th from the left.
Number of children to the right of Komal = (29-9)
= 20.
Hence, Komal’s new position is 21st from the right.
Directions (4–5): Study the following information and answer the given questions.
K is the brother of J. J is the mother of Y.
Y is the sister of T. T is married to Q. S is the father of J.
S has only one daughter. S is married to R.
K is the brother of D. U is the father-in-law of D.
Q4. How is D related to Y?
Q5. If U is the father of C, then how is D related to C?
Directions (6–10): In these questions, relationship between different elements is shown in the statements. The statement is/are followed by two conclusions. Study the conclusions based on the given statements and Give answer-
Q6. Statements:
A < B ≤ C = D, K ≥ J > C
Conclusions:
I. C < K
II. B ≤ D
Q7. Statements:
A < B ≤ C = D, K ≥ J > C
Conclusions:
I. A ≥ J
II. K > B
Q8. Statement:
B ≥ L > A ≥ N < K
Conclusions:
I. B > N
II. L < K
Q9. Statement:
B ≥ L > A ≥ N < K
Conclusions:
I. L > N
II. L = N
Q10. Statement:
A > B > C ≤ D = E ≤ F
Conclusions:
I. C < F
II. C = F
Directions (11-15): Study the following letter/number /symbol sequence and answer the questions following it.
Q11. How many symbols are there in the series which are immediately preceded by a number and immediately followed by a letter?
Q12. If all the symbols are dropped from the series, which letter/number will be eleventh to the left of fifteenth letter/number from you left ?
Q13. If the position of the first and the sixteenth elements, the second and the seventeenth elements, and so on up to the eleventh and the twenty-sixth elements, are interchanged, which letter/number/ symbol will be seventh to the right of nineteenth letter/number/symbol from the right?
Now,
19th element from the left will be replaced by the fourth element (from the
left) in the original series. Hence the required element is ‘U’
Q14. If the positions of the letters in the sequence are reoccupied by the letters themselves though after getting rearranged alphabetically from the left, which of the following will indicate the position of L in the new arrangement?
Q15. What is the total number of ‘the numbers immediately followed by a letter’ and ‘the symbols immediately following the letters’ together in the above sequence?
