Directions (6-10): Each question is followed by three statements. You have to study the question and all the three statements given and decide whether any information provided in the statement(s) is redundant and can be dispensed with while answering the questions.
Q6. The average of temperatures of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday is 30° C. Find the temperature of Wednesday.
A. The sum of temperatures of Monday and Tuesday is 61° C.
B. The sum of temperatures of Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is 122° C.
C. The temperature of Wednesday is 3° C more than that of Sunday.
From B: Temp. on Wed = 122 - 30 × 3 = 32°C.
From A & C: Temp. on Wed = 29 + 3 = 32°C
Hence, either B alone or A and C together can be dispensed with.
Q7. A person purchases an article from a shop for Rs. 11640 and the shopkeeper bears some losses. How much amount was required by the wholesaler to purchase the article if the wholesaler directly sold the article to the shopkeeper?
A. The difference between the C.P. of the shopkeeper and that of the person is Rs 360.
B. Cost price of shopkeeper is 16 2/3 % less than that of wholesaler.

Q9. 6 men and 9 women can do a work in 14 days. In how many days can 12 men and 3 women do the same work? A. 20 men and 33 women can do the same work in 4 days. B. Work done by 2 men is equal to 3 women. C. 6 women can do two-thirds of the same work in 28 days.
A: 80 M + 132 W = 84 M + 126 W [from (i)] B: 2M = 3W
C: 6 women can do the same work in 42 days.
So, by combining (i) with any of the three statements, we can find out the no. of days required to complete the same work by 12 men and 3 women. So, any two of them can be dispensed with.
Q10. What is the area of the rectangle? A. Perimeter of the rectangle is 80 m. B. The total cost of flooring the rectangle at Rs. 2 per square metre is Rs 750. C. Breadth of the rectangle is 15 m.
∴ l + b = 40
B: Area of the rectangle =750/2 = 375 m²
C : b = 15
∴ l = 25 (from A)
∴ Area = l × b = 25 × 15 = 375 m²
So, either B alone or A and C together can be dispensed with.
