Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address nation at 8 PM today; decision on lockdown likely

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation today at 8 PM, and the Prim Minister’s Office has announced this on their official twitter handle. The PM held a video conference with the Chief Ministers of all states on 11 May, and it is likely that PM will make some announcement on the lockdown and restoration of economic activities in the country.

India today has crossed the 71000 mark as the total no. of reported coronavirus cases in the country have climbed up to 71,268 confirmed cased out of which 45,926 are active cases and there have been 2,310 deaths due to COVID-19.

The fifth video conference of PM Modi with Chief Ministers was majorly about economic activities gaining momentum in each state and the country at large slowly. With the lockdown 3.0 the Ministry of Home Affairs gave new set of guidelines which gave a relaxation in some sorts to carry out or restore economic activities in different zones- red, orange and green. It is expected that today’s address to the nation by PM will give more clarity to the citizens on how the economic activities will be restored effectively to ease out the tension keeping in mind the necessary measures of social distancing to curb COVID-19 outbreak.
