NICL AO Prelims result is out and now all the selected candidates will have to appear for the Phase-II or Mains examination on 2nd July 2017. You have approx. 15 day to complete your preparation to crack NICL AO Mains examination. It is the time for a strategic approach and preparation as you are not left with much time and we already know the level of Mains or Phase-II examination is not going to be that easy.
It was observed in NIACL Assistant Mains 2017 examination that in G.A section around 10-12 questions were from Insurance Awareness, so it’ll be wise that for G.A section of NICL AO Phase-II exam you should not only focus on Static, current affairs, and banking but also on Insurance awareness. NICL AO Mains exam has a total of 6 sections where the first five sections- Reasoning, English, Computer, Quantitative Aptitude, and G.A are part of online objective test with each section having 40 questions for 40 marks and a composite time of 120 minutes and the 6th section of mains exam is the English Language (Essay, Précis and Comprehension) Descriptive Test that will have 3 questions for 30 marks with a time limit of 30 minutes. It is advisable that you spend at max 35 minutes for quantitative aptitude, 30 minutes for reasoning, 25 minutes for English, 15 minutes for Computer and 15 minutes for G.A
English Language for NICL AO Phase-II
English Language Section is a section of surprises, but with the correct approach you can deal with this section. Firstly, you should choose to attempt questions of Cloze Test, Antonym/Synonym, Spellings and Fillers as they are relatively easier and far less time-consuming than other topics. Then you can go for Sentence Improvement, Jumbled paragraph and Compound sentences. There are certain methods and tricks for these topics and by practicing well; you can easily get through these questions as well. Then you’ll be left with Reading Comprehension. The trick for Reading Comprehension can be to at first quickly read the questions and then accordingly go through the passage, this can save your time. Yes, this step is very important, and while reading the questions do note down important points or keywords that you have to search in the passage. If you find new pattern questions don’t panic, just read the directions you might be actually able to solve them if you pay proper attention.
Remember it’s better to leave those questions that you find too much time consuming; be careful with your choices. Around 10 questions will be asked from a Reading Comprehension and 5-6 questions can be of easy to moderate level. Choose wisely and don’t be tempted to take chances while attempting questions from Reading Comprehension as accuracy matters a lot.
Quantitative Aptitude for NICL AO Phase-II
Quant can be lengthy and calculative and some might wonder how they can complete 40 questions in 35 minutes; the key is to master the art of topic management remember there is no sectional time so you have to manage time for all sections yourself. Yes, you must choose wisely what to attempt and what Not to attempt. Number series, Simplification & Approximation and Quadratic Equation/Inequality are generally of moderate level and you can start with them.
You need to keep hawk’s eye on questions from these topics as they will give that easy mark you’ll instantly. Then your approach should be to target questions of Data Interpretation. In each set of a DI there will be 5 questions of which 2-3 will be of easy to moderate level. After you are done with DI you can now focus on Language Problem. In Language Problems or Miscellaneous part, the topics are Percentage, Average, Ratio and Proportion, Partnership, Time & Work and Work & Wages, Pipes and Cisterns, Allegation or Mixtures, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Permutation and Combination, Probability, Mensuration, and Data Sufficiency. The only strategy to tackle language problem is to go for those questions first you feel you are comfortable with. If you are good at Probability choose questions of probability first, and likewise, go on. For getting a good command over these topics you need a good understanding of concepts and good speed of solving these questions which come with nothing but practice. Reasoning Ability for NICL AO Phase-II
For reasoning, if you brush up your skills in Blood Relation, Coding-Decoding, Alpha-Numeric-Symbol Series and Inequalities you can easily score marks in these questions. Yes, you just need to understand their concept once and as their logic is much generalized, it is easy for a student to attempt questions of these topics. Along with them Alphabets and Ranking and Direction is also not that tough. Then there is Machine Input-Output and Syllogism. These topics are not very difficult but questions can be tricky. There is a possibility that questions of blood relation; ranking can be asked in form of a puzzle so in this time practice all sorts of questions.
As far as Logical Reasoning, Seating Arrangement and Puzzles are considered nothing can be said for sure and only practice can save you in questions from these topics. Among these topics Seating Arrangement can be relatively easy. You’ll need right presence of mind to solve questions from these topics and they also come with an advantage. If you feel they are too time-consuming, a smart choice will be to skip them and invest your valuable time in other questions or other section.
Computer Awareness for NICL AO Phase-II
Computer is one of the subjects where you have to be limited as the syllabus is wide and to cover the whole, you need time. General Awareness for NICL AO Phase-II
