National Small Industry Day 2022: Every year, August 30 is observed as National Small Industry Day in India. National Small Industry Day is marked to highlight the importance of small industries in India. Small Industries play a major role in the economic growth of the country. On National Small Industry Day small businesses are promoted and encouraged so that they become a source of employment for the people. The financial condition of a country will be enhanced when there is a balanced growth between the small, medium, and, large-scale industries which will ultimately lead to the establishment of new enterprises. The Small Scale Industry will flourish when various strategies get implemented through the policies of the Government. Small Scale Industries in India faced many problems such as Infrastructure, Technology, payment-related issues, etc. To provide help and support to small enterprises and solve their problems a comprehensive policy package for the Small Scale Industries(SSI) was launched on August 30, 2000. The officials of the Ministry further agreed to designate 30th of August as National Small Industry Day. Since then every year National Small Industry Day is being celebrated in India. In a developing Nation like India, a large number of jobless people seek jobs through the small scale industries.

The industries in which manufacturing and production are performed with the available resources are called Small Scale Industries. The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, states that an industry is considered as a small business when the investment done in the plant and machinery installed is of more than Rs. 25 lakhs but  not more than Rs. 5 crores. 102 Enterprise Development Centers are established across India by the MSME Ministry.

National Small Industry Day: Significance

National Small Industry Day is commemorated to boost up the small businesses of India. Small Scale Businesses play a very significant role in the economic growth of a developing nation. The central government has made all sincere efforts to establish and support the small scale industries. Small Scale Industries are labor-intensive and also emphasizes on the distribution of economic power. When new industries get set up the number of job opportunities arises. People of both urban and rural areas get employed through the small scale industries. For the Small Scale Industry(SSI) Entrepreneurs the Ministry of Small-Scale Industries organized SSI Convention on August 30, 2001 along with National Awards Function was presented in New Delhi. There were three parts in the the program: Inauguration, Distribution of National Awards, and an Open House Discussion was also conducted.
