National Endangered Species Day 2022: Every year the third Friday of May is celebrated as National Endangered Species Day. National Endangered Species Day 2022 is observed on the 20th of May. The first Endangered Species Day was created by U.S Senate in 2006.

On 28 December to lift up the importance of wildlife conservation and restoration efforts for all endangered species The Endangered Species Act of 1973 was signed into law. National Endangered Species Day was founded and started by David Robinson and the Endangered Species Coalition in 2006. Since 2006 third Friday of May is observed as National Endangered Species Day.

National Endangered Species Day is celebrated with the main emphasis on conserving our planet Earth’s flora and fauna. The day reminds the human beings that they can do a lot to protect these species. The Encyclopedia Britannica says that around half of all species on the list are endangered because of human activities. Some of our favorite creatures are at the risk of getting extinct. According to the IUCN Red List Of Threatened Species, there are more than 16,000 species of fungi, algae, plants, and animals that might disappear from Earth forever. Humans have a great responsibility and help these species from not getting disappear. National Endangered Species Day aim towards educating about the ways of conservation, restoration of the ecosystem and understanding biodiversity.
