Like each year the National Civil Services Day will be celebrated on 21 April 2023. Since the year 2006, April 21 is designated as National Civil Services Day.  It is observed throughout the nation.

National Civil Services Day 2023: History

Though National Civil Services Day was first observed on 21 April 2006. The reason for celebrating this particular day as National Civil Services Day goes far back in history. Our first Home Minister, also known as the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel believed in civil services as an essential component of nation-building. It was in 1947 while addressing the Probationary Officers at the All India Administrative Service Training School at Metcalfe House, Delhi, he first referred to the civil servants/ services as the ” Steel Frame Of India”. This accurately emphasizes the role civil servants have played and are expected to play for the growth and well-being of the Nation.

To mark this historical day which laid down the basic role of civil services in modern India after Independence. The Government of India designated 21 April in 2006 as National Civil Services Day.

The theme for National Civil Services Day 2023 is “Viksit Bharat“. As civil servants are expected to be perpetual nation-builders. All activities that are related to Service and administration are equally important for them each day.
