Mohan Charan Majhi, a tribal leader, will take oath as Chief Minister of Odisha on 12 June 2024. A seasoned politician with a robust track record, Majhi’s appointment marks a new era in Odisha’s political landscape. Mohan Majhi to be BJP’s first Odisha CM after the end of  Naveen Patnaik’s 24-year-long reign.

Early Life and Political Career

Mohan Majhi was born on July 15, 1965, in Bhadrak, Odisha. He pursued his education locally. His dedication to public service and his ability to connect with the common people quickly propelled him into the political limelight.

Political career

Majhi entered politics in the late 1980s, initially engaging in grassroots activism. Majhi’s political journey began with his election as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the Bhadrak constituency in the early 2000s.

In this election, Mohan Charan Majhi won the Keonjhar seat and defeated BJD’s Mina Majhi from the constituency. He is the third tribal CM of Odisha.
