26th July holds a very special place in the hearts of the Indian as operation Vijay was a success on this day. To celebrate this success, 26TH July is celebrated ad Kargil Vijay Diwas across the nation. It was in 1999 that a high altitude mountain war broke out along the peaks of Kargil near the Line of Control, the de-facto border that divides Kashmir between the two nations. Kargil war was our fourth encounter with our notorious and volatile neighbour who is an angel of ‘chaos’. but this time was no different than the previous times and as they say that History repeats itself, it does repeated this time as well. The cowards of the other side fled the warfield like rats & the control of higher posts was regained by our heroes. What resides in our heart is the pain associated with this war as it is like a canker. It was very tought task to reach high altitude in the Kargil sector. But nothing can stop our war heroes and our soldiers proved again that there could be better equipped armies in this world but no army in this world that could equate the gallantry & fortitude levels of Indian Army.
How It Started?
One of the biggest wars started by the shameful act of our neighbouring army, Pakistani army when Lt. Saurav Kalia & his team, which went uphill at Kaksar area to trace the presence of infiltrators, was captured & tortured by the most disgusting & coward army of this world. Under tremendous pressure from International powers, their mutilated bodies were handed over to India and this whole incident started a full fledged war between India & Pak. Our soldiers were filled with young blood whileour namby-pamby neighbour relied on hired Kashmiri militants & religious fanatics to fight their side of the war.
On July 4, Tiger Hill was captured by our army as it was the most important peak to regain the control over the area. This captured ensured the win of India. We won and though we celebrate this day to mark our victory but even after so many years we couldn’t get over the loss of our brave men at the frontier. All our team pay our homage to all the martyrs on this Vijay Diwas. Jai Hind!!!
