Introduction of 5 Banking Days Per Week: The All India Bank Employees’ Association has made a demand to introduce 5 Banking Days per week. A letter has been written to the Senior Advisor of the Indian Bank Association(IBA) highlighting that all Saturdays of the month should be a holiday. They have also stated that to compensate for the holiday the working hours per day can be increased by 30 minutes and accordingly the present working hours can be rescheduled by 30 minutes in the morning. They have earnestly requested the IBA to move into the matter and announce 5 Banking Days per week as early as possible.
Introduction of 5 Banking Days Per Week By All India Bank Employees’ Association
The four banking unions, All India Bank Employees’ Association(AIBEA), National Confederation of Bank Employees(NCBE), National Organization of Bank Employees(NOBW), and India National Bank Employees Federation(INBEF) have come up with a letter demanding the introduction of 5 Banking Days per week. A discussion was held on 23rd September 2022 on the various pending residual issues in which the introduction of 5 banking days per week was one of the most important ones. The associations have written the letter in regard of the meeting held. At present the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month are holidays for the banking employees and in the letter they have clearly mentioned that they are completely against it and they demand to have all the Saturdays of the month as holiday.
At present in banks the timings of working hours and business hours is different. The employees from different centers gathered to have a discussion and they came to the conclusions mentioned below.
- Increase the working hours per day by 30 minutes
- Prepone the present working hours by 30 minutes in the morning
- The present customer service hours/non-cash transaction banking hours can be enhanced by 30 minutes
- The present cash transaction hours to remain the same
