International Women’s Day is celebrated every year in many countries on 8th March, and it is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. A number of powerful women have shaped the course of history with their intelligence, strength, passion, and leadership qualities. They have challenged the status quo, made lasting reforms, and many have presided over their countries for decades, ushering in prosperity and cultural revolutions. Women’s History  is more than the sum of its outstanding players: Sita in ‘Ramayana’, Jhansi’s Rani Lakshmi Bai, Zenobia the queen of the Palmyrene Empire, Joan of Arcthey, Marie Curie, Indira Gandi, Mother Teresa, Margaret Thatcher; they are not only celebrated women but their contribution to social change and awareness had been immense.
International Women’s Day is not a country, group or organisation specific. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. So together, let’s all be tenacious in accelerating gender parity. Collectively, let’s all Press for Progress. And to make a contribution to this agenda Adda247 will be donating 10% of today’s collection towards educating the girl child. Adda247 family believes when girls are educated, their countries become stronger and more prosperous. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can make a difference in the world- Malala Yousafzai. Education is the fundamental building block to Press for Progress of a child and the nation. Collective action and shared responsibility for driving gender parity is what is required to make the International Women’s Day successful.
