International Tiger Day 2022: International Tiger Day or World Tiger Day is celebrated all around the globe on July 29. International Tiger Day 2022: History
In 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit held in Russia it was decided to observe 29th July every year as International Tiger Day. Around 13 countries representatives declared that by 2022 the population of tiger will get double. The countries where the population of tiger is more will have to achieve this goal through various ways. In 2010 the number of tigers in India was approximately 1700.

International Tiger Day is celebrated so that people get conscious and take measures to conserve the tigers. The Population of tigers are declining rapidly because trees are being cut down and they are loosing their dwelling place and they are also being traded and hunted illegally. Tigers are placed in the category of endangered species. To protect the tigers many campaigns like “Save the Tiger” and various others have been run. In India in the year 2010 tigers reached the verge of extinction. At present only 3,200 tigers are left in the world. On International Tiger Day, countries come together and discuss various ways to conserve the tiger. Events and campaigns are organized on International Tiger Day to create awareness among the public.

International Tiger Day 2022 Theme mainly highlights that our country India has launched a project called Tiger to restore the population of tigers. World Wildlife Fund do great work and for them adopting a tiger will be like a wonder. World Wildlife Fund(WWF) support the initiatives in which there is cooperation of the regional people and their ultimate aim is to protect the tigers and also take strong action against illegal trade.
