In 1948 at the 42nd International Olympic Committee(IOC) Session organized in St. Moritz it was decided to execute the idea given by Doctor Gruss. The committee decided to celebrate 23rd June as International Olympic Day or World Olympic Day because on June 23 International Olympic Committee was founded at Sorbonne, Paris in 1894. The first International Olympic Day was celebrated on 23rd June,1948 under the Presidentship of Sigfrid Edstrom.
