International MSME Day 2022: To aware the public about the contribution of MSME to economic growth, International MSME Day 2022 is celebrated all over the world on June 27. Micro-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises are the  Organizations that can recruit 250 employees and overall provide 70% employment. International MSME Day is observed to highlight the importance of MSMEs in nourishing the economy as the micro-small and medium-sized enterprises at the global level create around two-thirds of the job. MSME stands as a pillar in the country’s economy as it accounts for the 90% of businesses and and 50% of GDP. International MSME Day 2022: History

Micro-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises needed a recognition as it was playing an important part in the development at the international level and this was first realized at the 2016 World Conference by the International Council for Small Business(ICSB). In the 74th Plenary held on 6th April 2017, United Nations General Assembly(UNGA) decided to observe International MSME Day as it understood that MSMEs can contribute at a large scale in fulfilling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). The United Nations later decided to commemorate 27th June as International MSME Day.

International MSME Day 2022: Significance

International MSME Day is observed to provide knowledge to the people about the Micro-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. MSME create jobs for the unemployed so it is estimated that 70% of employment is through MSMEs. MSMEs are ranked 2nd in the employment generating sector. Millions of families are dependent on the Micro-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for their livelihood. The 5th Anniversary of MSME is being celebrated on 27th June,2022. So according to the market requirement more MSMEs should be settled which will not only boost up the economy but will also impart job to the unemployed. International MSME Day is celebrated to give regards to the people working in the different MSMEs as they are contributing to GDP of the country.

The theme for International MSME Day 2022 or World MSME Day 2022 is “Resilience and Rebuilding: MSMEs for Sustainable Development”. The theme mainly highlights  that for the socio economic development of a country Micro-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises is a necessary component. During the last few years MSME suffered heavy loss due to the COVID-19 Pandemic as restrictions were imposed all over the world. Many people have to loose their job and many MSMEs were completely closed. Now as we have recovered from all these factors and we know that MSMEs are important for building our economy Government need to implement plans to rebuild the MSMEs for Sustainable Development.
