India asks the Chinese govt. to allow travel by Indians to China

India asked China to allow Indian citizens to travel to that country especially those who work or study there, and said that essential two-way travel should be facilitated, especially seeing the fact that Chinese nationals are allowed to travel to India.

Background: Around 300 Indians who live and work in China but they are currently in their home country have requested the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi to issue them visas to return after they managed to get Chinese vaccines from a third country and are fulfilling other requirements and formalities. Indian nationals have been unable to travel back to resume their work or studies since November last year. A group of Indians who are working or studying in China has assured Chinese authorities of complying with all necessary pandemic-prevention rules, testing, and quarantine procedures once they arrive in China. Around 2000 Indian students enrolled in Chinese universities but stranded in their home country have also not been allowed to return to China.

In that response, Beijing told that China has not facilitated visas to those Indians also who are staying in other countries.

Now: After the Indian government’s question on this issue China silent on visas to Indians who have met the requirements. Dr.Huiyao Wang from the Centre for China and Globalization told that Indian students may be allowed to return in some time. China-Made vaccines are not yet approved in India. China has not even yet specified its stand on accepting the vaccines which are approved by WHO for cross-border travels.
