Increased exports of Agricultural and allied commodities
India has seen an increase of almost 18.5 percent in the export of Agricultural and allied commodities during the period of April 2020 to February 2021 as compared to the same period of time in the previous year.
The country witnessed tremendous growth in exports of Wheat at more than 700%, more than 130% in Non-Basmati Rice, 310 billion of Basmati Rice, more than 255 billion of Spices, more than 50 billion of in each tea and coffee exports. Some other commodities which have recorded significant positive growth in exports include other cereals, soya meal, spices, sugar, raw cotton, fresh vegetables, processed vegetables, and alcoholic beverages.
The world food supply chain continued by the Indian export market and got not disturbed even during the pandemic. The export of Agricultural and allied commodities from April 2020 to February 2021 was more than Rs.2 lakh 70 thousand crores.
The imports of Agricultural and allied commodities witnessed little growth of 2.93 percent during this period. During this hazardous period, the balance of trade in agriculture has favorably increased despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
This data of exports shows India’s position as a leader in agricultural and allied commodities in the world and also shows its commitment towards the supplier of these products for the world in any hard situations like also Covid-19 pandemic.
