IBPS RRB Job and Work Profile

If you are planning on to start a career with a govt. job in Regional Rural Banks and you are a graduate or a fresher (and you meet the required eligibility criteria) then you can apply for the posts of Officer Scale-I which is very similar to the Probationary Officer of SBI and IBPS and you can also apply for the post of Office Assistant which is similar to the post of Clerical Cadre in PSUs.

The Job and Work Profile for Officer Scale-I is just like the same as that of a Probationary Officer. After selection for this post, a candidate will serve 2 years (may vary from one bank to another) of Probation Period after which you will be Assistant Manager in the assigned Regional Rural Bank. And after the completion of the Probation Period, the banks usually conduct an internal examination. Few rules and structures may vary from bank to bank and after the exam, if a candidate fails to pass, his/her probation period is extended and upon successfully passing the exam he/she is assigned the post of Assistant Manager.
  • Probationary Officers and Managers in banks and RRB are into customer dealing and maintenance and supervising regular branch activities. 
  • The Job Role or Work responsibilities of an Officer (Scale-I) of a regional rural bank will include to look after public relations, monitor and regulate branch activities and tasks, address customer related issues and grievances, approving and monitoring daily branch and customer transactions and handling loan processing. 
  • An assistant manager is expected to multitask and verify the work done by clerks whenever required. Also, to be always aware of the policies and decisions made by the management and to implement those in the functioning of his branch.

You may have a chance to get promoted to Manager after completion of the 2 years’ Probation Period and banks conduct exams on a regular interval for the promotion of employees. IBPS RRB Office Assistant
The work profile of an Office Assistant in RRB is very similar to that of a Clerk in any Public-Sector Bank. It is the starting designation in the hierarchy of RRB and PSU bank jobs. 

  • An Office Assistant deal with the front desk work and customer handling operations.
  • A clerk works at the single window operations like managing inquiry corners, withdrawal, managing receipts etc.
  • An Office Assistant also deals with opening new accounts, cash collection, issuing bank statements and handling mails and delivery.
Growth Opportunity:  As per IBPS RRB office assistant promotion process, the candidates would be promoted to higher posts on basis of their performance also after working for 3 years through internal exams an office assistant can get promoted to the post of Probationary Officer/Assistant Manager. IBPS RRB PO and Clerk Salary

An Office Assistant in Regional Rural Bank can get a basic salary of Rs.15000 to Rs.19000 during the training period. After training period the perks and emoluments may depend upon the performance of the candidate as well as it may vary from bank to bank.

An Officer Scale-I in Regional Rural Bank can get a basic salary of Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 25000. Various allowances are also added onto as the salary components after which the salary may range from Rs. 33,000 to Rs. 37,000. The salary can also vary according to the place of posting and from one bank to another.
