IBPS RRB PO Mains 2017 Recruitment Exam is over, Now it’s time for the much awaited IBPS RRB PO  Mains Exam Analysis & Review (5th Nov 2017). Many students have appeared for this exam today and this brings them to a step closer in their journey of getting a Job in govt. sector. Without wasting any moment, let’s get straight to the analysis for which you are all waiting for. Overall the exam was of a Moderate- Difficult Level level. The level of Numerical Ability and Reasonining was a surprise to many students, and G.A and Computers were a sigh of relief.


IBPS RRB PO Mains 2017 exam had 5 sections in the objective test of 200 marks – Numerical Ability, English/Hindi Language, Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, and General Awareness for a composite duration of 120 minutes.

NUMERICAL ABILITY( Difficult )
This section had 40 questions for 50 marks. The level of Numerical Ability was very difficult and there were 4 sets of Data Interpretation Questions. Each set of DI had questions from various chapters like percentage, average, ratio, partnership etc, which made it difficult for students to complete a set of DI in less time, thus many found Data Interpretation sets to be very calculative and difficult. Following were the types of DI:
  • Pie Chart ( do-able, and relatively moderate in comparison to other DI sets)
  • Bar Graph
  • Caselet
  • Tabular
The questions of Data Sufficiency were also difficult to approach in limited time as they were from advanced maths.

HINDI LANGUAGE (Moderate)
This section had 40 questions for 50 marks. The level of Hindi Language section was moderate and as Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning were of a difficult level, students have tried to gain marks by increasing attempts in Hindi, Computers and GA. There was one Reading Comprehension consisting 10 questions which included 5 vocab based questions of antonym and synonym.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE (Moderate)
This section had 40 questions for 50 marks. The level of English Language section was moderate. There were two sets Reading Comprehensions consisting 7 questions each. The topic of RCs was based on Economy. There were some changes in the pattern of questions asked in English section as one of the cloze test was not based on single word filler rather students had to identify the prase or sentence for each blank in the cloze test. There was a new type of question of Opposite Pairs, where 4 set of statements were given and students had to identify the ones which were opposite in their meaning.

REASONING  ( Difficult)


The level of reasoning was Difficult. Puzzles and Seating Arrangement sets were hard to crack and many students struggled to attempt more in this section as Machine Input Output questions set was also of a difficult level. Following were the types of puzzles asked:

  • Allocation Based Puzzle (5 Variable)
  • Scheduling (Month) Based Puzzle
  • Linear Seating Arrangement (3 Variable)

GENERAL AWARENESS ( Easy-Moderate)
Bankersadda’s G.K Power Capsule for helped students a lot as many questions asked were covered in the capsule already. Most of the questions were from banking, Static and current affairs. There were also few questions from basic banking awareness and the questions asked from static were based on those cities which were recently in news. The current affairs questions were mainly from the news and events of September and October Month.

COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE (Easy)
The level of this section was very basic most of the questions were from basics of Software, Internet, Network etc. This section was a sigh of relief as Reasoning and Quant sections were very difficult.
