After selection for the post of Probationary, a candidate will serve 2 years (may vary from one bank to another) of Probation Period after which you will be Assistant Manager in the assigned Public Sector Bank. And after the completion of the Probation Period, the banks usually conduct an internal examination. Few rules and structures may vary from bank to bank and after the exam, if a candidate fails to pass, his/her probation period is extended and upon successfully passing the exam he/she is assigned the post of Assistant Manager.
- Probationary Officers and Managers in banks are into customer dealing and maintenance and supervising regular branch activities.
- The Job Role or Work responsibilities of a Probationary Officer of a public sector bank will include to look after public relations, monitor and regulate branch activities and tasks, address customer related issues and grievances, approving and monitoring daily branch and customer transactions and handling loan processing.
- An assistant manager is expected to multitask and verify the work done by clerks whenever required. Also, to be always aware of the policies and decisions made by the management and to implement those in the functioning of his branch.

IBPS PO Salary & Allowances
IBPS PO Salary has been revised as per the 7th Pay Commission introduced by the Government of India. A Scale in any Public Sector Bank can get a basic salary of Rs. 23,000 to Rs. 27000. Various allowances are also added onto as the salary components after which the salary may range from Rs. 39,000 to Rs. 42,000. The salary can also vary according to the place of posting and from one bank to another.
