It’s 31st March, the day when IBPS announces allotment details to candidates considered in the reserve list of the examination process of last year. Despite continuing on with their efforts for the subsequent examinations, aspirants in the reserve list still wait for the 31st March of the next year as in most cases it brings with it fruits of their labours of past. Now that the day is here and we wait for the reserve list for IBPS PO, SO, Clerk, let’s develop a deeper understanding of the process.
What Is Reserve List?
As per the official notification,
“A reserve list to the extent of approximately 10 percent of the vacancies under each category may be kept, subject to the availability of candidates”.
The reason behind keeping a reserve list is to make qualified candidates available for recruitment in the case of seats going vacant due to multiple reasons. Now, the question is why will the seats be vacant when such a huge number of aspirants aim for this very opportunity? The major reasons being availability of a better opportunity, selection in a bank not desired by the aspirant, possible posting in a location unfavorable for the candidate, anomalies in document verification at the time of joining, certain personal issues after joining. While many other miscellaneous reasons might be there the point comes down to the fact that even after the announcement of the provisional allotment list, quite a few posts go vacant within the recruitment session and in this case, the reserve list is made use of by the participating organizations.
Another major reason behind keeping a reserve list is further mentioned in the notification as under:
“In the event of Participating Organisations providing further vacancies during April 2017-March 2018, provisional allotment will be carried out for the candidates from the reserve list.”
Clearly, if the participating organizations are in requirement of more candidates during the aforementioned period, they already have a pool of candidates from the reserved list.
A point to mention is that In the event of two or more candidates having obtained the same score, merit order is decided as per date of birth (the candidate senior in age is placed before/ above the candidate junior in age).
The day has come when the allotment details of candidates from the reserve list made for the session April 2017-March 2018 will be made available on the IBPS website for the posts of Probationary Officers, Specialist Officers, and Clerks under CWE-VI. A selection and confirmation mail will be sent to the selected candidates on their registered email Id. Keep your emotions intact for the time is near and wait for the good news.
All The Best!!!
