Homemakers: The unsung heroes of our society

If there is a sect of hardworking people we overlook very often in our daily lives, it definitely has to be the homemakers of our families. They’re the ones who toil away for hours and hours without seeking even a shred of appreciation in return for the efforts that they put in maintaining the structure of our families. On top of that, they also ensure that the household operates smoothly while everyone else is away, going on about their days.

It would not be wrong to say that the regular chores of a housemaker, i.e., making sure the house is spic and span, stocking up the refrigerator with your favourite food items, running the seemingly small everyday errands that nobody else can get to because of their lack of time, are as mentally and physically exhausting, if not more, as someone’s 9-5 shift in a faraway office. Their calloused hands speak for themselves when they hold your hand or provide you with a gentle caress. Especially after the year we have had, a year full of despair, agony, loss, and tons of new changes, the ones who have without fail carried their added responsibilities of taking care of their families and spouses are these ladies who rarely get to hear words of recognition from us.

This women’s day make sure to express your gratitude, in whatever little way you can, to the one who stays back at home and takes care of everything that you leave behind. The ones who collect the amazon package that arrived way too early, the ones who go to the extra lengths to prepare your favourite dish when you have had a tough day out in the world, the ones who provide a safe haven for you when things get a little too hard in your life.
