This year India is going to celebrate its 72nd Republic Day, it is celebrated every year to mark this day to honor the date on which the constitution of India came into effect. A very happy Republic day to all our aspirants from bankersadda. Today in this article we will provide you some information about Republic Day.

The constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 whereas it came into effect on 26 January 1950, as well this day is known as republic day because on this day the Indian National Congress proclaimed the declaration of Indian Independence to oppose the British regime.

On this day, in many parts of the country flag hoisting and parade are held, but the most important of all these parades are held at New Delhi, in which all the states showcase their culture and heritage through Tableau and parades of different armed forces are presided over by the President who is the Commander In Chief of Indian Armed Forces. Apart from these awards such as Paramvir Chakra, Ashoka Chakra, and Vir Chakra are given to the award winners.

The day starts with the tribute paid to our martyr soldiers by our Prime Minister, followed by the parade and tableau presented by various states of our country.

Importance of Republic day:

Republic day plays a significant role in our country, as on this day our constitution came into effect and was adopted. On 29 August 1947 drafting committee was made and is responsible to prepare the draft and it was under the chairmanship of B.R. Ambedkar. He was the first chairperson of the drafting committee. The drafting committee had 7 seven-member which were Alladi Krishnaswami Ayyar, N Gopalaswami, BR Ambedkar, KM Munshi, Mohammad Saadulla, BL Mitter, and DP Khaitan. The constituent assembly took 2 years,11 months, and 17 days to frame the constitution. The constituent assembly firstly adopted it on 26 November 1949 although it came into effect on 26 January 1950.

Due to the global pandemic of COVID-19, this year Republic day will not be similar to all years, due to which the British Prime Minister who was supposed to be our Chief guest this year, had to call off his trip. Simultaneously, the day will be started this year by the tribute paid by our PM at Amar Javan Jyoti in India Gate, and flag hoisting done by our president, followed by the tableau of different states.
