Maha Shivratri which means “the Great Night of Shiva” is a Hindu festival which is celebrated every year in the month of Phalgun. It falls on the 13th night (waning moon) and 14th day of this month and the night marks “overcoming darkness and ignorance”. It is said that Shiva drank poisonous negativity to protect the world on this day and performed the heavenly dance of creation, preservation and destruction.
The festival is celebrated over three to ten days based on the Hindu luni-solar calendar. Hindus celebrate this festival by remembering Shiva and chanting prayers, fasting, and meditating on ethics and virtues such as self-restraint, honesty, noninjury to others, forgiveness, and the discovery of Shiva.
May this festival of Mahashivaratri helps you overcome the negativities and hardships in your life. May the blessings of Shiva Shanker shower on you all the happiness, prosperity & peace in your life.
