Govt. Commitment towards every citizen through Yoga
Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Health and Family Welfare Minister, has said that countries around the globe have recognized the potential benefits that humankind can enjoy by embracing Yoga. He also said, increasing acceptance of Yoga across the world is evidence of its wide popularity.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the opening ceremony of the Global Yoga Conference 2021 on 15th June. The government has a commitment to take yoga to every citizen as this is beneficial for the health and well-being of the population. By highlighting the benefits of Yoga during the Covid-19 pandemic, he also said the benefits of Yoga in immunity building and management of stress are crucial. Yoga gives a solution for maintaining physical fitness as well as contributing towards one’s mental peace. The 7th International Day of Yoga will be celebrated on 21st June 2021.
In Union Budget 2021-22 which was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocated Rs.2,970.30 crore to the Ministry of Ayush for the next fiscal year marking an increase of 40% of the previous fiscal. Shri Udit Sheth, Vice president of the National Yoga Asana Sports Federation said that the increasing impact of AYUSH as a sector of the Indian economy in present times is no doubt significant. By making AYUSH an easy and appealing platform, our education and culture can be exported and India can become a wellness hub.
The government is promoting Yoga as a preventive health strategy for the last 5 to 6 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked everyone to think of yoga as “health assurance at zero budgets”
