(e) None of the above

Solutions

S1.Ans. (b)
Sol. Haemocyanin contains copper. Haemoglobin and Haemoerythrin contains Iron.

S2.Ans. (a)
Sol. Hooke’s law is only really valid up to the proportionality limit, and this is simply because Hooke’s law is a proportionality law, i.e. Force is proportional to extension.

S3.Ans. (c)
Sol. Cooling is not done by burning cooking gas. While, flow of water, release of compressed gas and melting solids results in cooling by absorbing heat from the surroundings, thus, lowering the temperature.

S4.Ans. (b)
Sol. When ice melts, density increases so volume decreases. That is why, ice floats on water. Mass = volume × density

S5.Ans. (b)
Sol. The process of copying genetic information from one strand of the DNA into RNA is termed as transcription. It takes place in nucleus with the help of RNA polymerase.

S6.Ans. (b)
Sol. Oils are purified by steam distillation. In steam distillation process steam is bubbled through a heated mixture of raw material. Some of the target components will vaporize which are coded and condensed yielding a layer of oil and a layer of water.

S7.Ans. (b)
Sol. In situ conservation means conservation which takes place onsite. The major aim of this type of conservation is to preserve natural areas of the organisms and maintain their number.example biosphere, national park, sacred grooves etc.

S8.Ans. (b)
Sol. Hexane do not give sooty flame as it is alkane and saturated compound where as Benzene, Naphthalene and Anthracene are aromatic and unsaturated so they give sooty flame.

S9.Ans. (b)
Sol. Ammonia (NH3) obtained from different sources always has same proportion of Nitrogen and Hydrogen and it proves the validity of law of constant proportion.

S10.Ans. (d)
Sol. Sulphur dissolves in carbon disulphide to form a solution which is homogeneous in nature. It does not show any Tyndall effect.
