1. Morarji Desai who served as the 4th Prime Minister of India between 1977 to 1979 led the government formed by the Janata Party.
2. Jawaharlal Nehru became the 1st Prime Minister of India, serving for 16 years.
3. Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was an Indian politician and stateswoman who served as the third prime minister of India from 1966 to 1977 and from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. She was India’s first, and to date only, female prime minister.
4. Chaudhary Charan Singh served as the 5th Prime Minister of India between 28 July 1979 to 14 January 1980. Historians and people alike frequently refer to him as the ‘champion of India’s peasants.’

• Did away with the requirement of quorum in the Parliament and the state legislatures.
• Empowered the Parliament to decide from time to time the rights and privileges of its members and committees.
• Provided for the creation of the All-India Judicial Service.
• Shortened the procedure for disciplinary action by taking away the right of a civil servant to make representation at the second stage after the inquiry (i.e., on the penalty proposed).
