Facts You Should Know About Oscar Awards: 92nd Academy Awards To Be Announced

92nd Academy Awards popularly known as Oscar Award is going to be held on 9th February 2020 (10th February IST) at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California. It is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and will honor the best films of 2019.

The Academy Awards were held in the late February every year but this year after a decade they are going to be held earlier on 9 February.

The first Academy Awards were distributed in 1929 at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood. Cinema has changed since then, and so have the categories for awards. AMPAS will present Academy Awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) in 24 categories. The ceremony will be broadcasted in the United States by ABC, produced by Lynette Howell Taylor and Stephanie Allain, and directed by Glenn Weiss. The awards will be oraganised without a host like in 2019.

Todd Phillips, much-debated supervillain origin story and R-rated box-office smash “Joker” top the list of all films with 11 Academy Awards nominations, while Martin Scorsese’s elegiac crime epic “The Irishman,” Quentin Tarantino’s 1960s Los Angeles fairy tale “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” and Sam Mendes’ World War I tale “1917” all are left behind with 10 position gaps.
