While preparing for government jobs, there is a lot of pressure on us. A degree is no longer as valuable as it used to be years ago. The most important aspect while judging one’s achievements these days is that if he/she is placed somewhere in public sector or not. If you are feeling stressed or depressed because of the pressure that is being caused by the upcoming exams, it is always a good idea to talk it out with others. After you have shared your feelings with others, you will get to know that you are not the only one suffering throughout. Not only that, there’s always the possibility that you discover your situation isn’t as bad as you think it is. Here are a few tips to overcome the anxiety or depression being caused by the pressure of studies:
- Remind yourself that feeling anxious is normal and is one’s natural reaction to any external pressure. The key is to put these nerves to positive use. Try to face the situation with a strong will power rather than avoiding or escaping from it.
- One way to release stress and anxiety is to listen to music that is calm and peaceful. Music is one of the best things to fight depression. You can play light music while studying too.
- Try talking to someone. Don’t lock yourself up in a room and study all day and night. Becoming a book worm is definitely not going to help. Humans are social animals that you need to talk to and express your feeling with. Make sure you take out time to converse with someone, your friends, family, stranger, anyone. You need a support system and someone who will encourage you.
- When you have too much material to be finished in a little time, it will cause anxiety. Plan your studying with regularly scheduled study sessions about 50 minutes long separated by 5 – 10 minute breaks.
- Students need at least 8 hours of sleep daily. Cramming all night to study is usually a bad idea. A good sleep will help improving concentration and thinking abilities. It will benefit you more than pulling an all nighter.
- If you can manage to pinch out 15 minutes off your studies to do some exercise, it would be great. Exercising will help the dispersion of blood all over the body and help you regain concentration. Any light exercise will increase your energy level and you will feel refreshed.
- A balanced diet will be vital for your health and can help you feel better to handle the pressure being caused by the upcoming examinations.
This time it’s you who takes charge. Prepare well without getting stressed or depressed. The aspirants who want to be successful need to have nerves of steel. We hope you will be able to fight off all the obstacles and hurdles in your life. Prepare well. All the best for the upcoming exams!!
