Eid-Mubarak
A month long of fasting and prayer ended yester night and with this Eid al-Fitr is celebrated. Eid al-Fitr, (Arabic: “Festival of Breaking Fast”)also spelled ʿĪd al-Fiṭr, also called al-ʿĪd al-Ṣaghīr, Turkish Ramazan Bayrami (“Ramadan Festival”), which is the first carnival of two canonical festivals of Islam. It’s the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal.

Ramadan, that is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It symbolizes the revelation of Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad, and lasts between 29 and 30 days which depends on the sighting of the moon. After this many Muslims show up for communal prayers, listen to a sermon known as khutba and give charity in the form of food which is zakat al-fitr during Eid al-Fitr. All these prayers are performed outside or in large venues, such as sports grounds, in some places. People trave from distant places to participate in such ceremonial activities. Some of the communities also make arrangements for different festivities, such as communal meals or events for children, on this day.
In the course of Eid al-Fitr, individuals dress in their best clothes, prettify their homes with electric ornamentations and decorations. Treats are given to the children and the people living away from homes travel to greet and celebrate this festival with their loved ones and family. It’s the time for official parties and private stopovers. Like every other festival gifts and presents are given to one another that shows warm gestures and with this many visit and pay respects to the ancestors on their grave and pray for their blessings.
