Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. CAPACIOUS (adjective) विशाल
Meaning: having a lot of space inside, roomy.
Synonyms: roomy, commodious, spacious, ample.
Antonyms: limited, restricted, narrow, exclusive.
Usage: The Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium is very capacious.

2. BENIGN (adjective) सौम्य
Meaning: gentle and kind.
Synonyms: kind, warm-hearted, good-natured, friendly.
Antonyms: cruel, unkind, ungenial, malignant.
Usage: I always fell God’s benign presence.

3. ANNIHILATE (verb) संहार करना
Meaning: to destroy something completely so that nothing is left.
Synonyms: destroy, wipe out, obliterate, eliminate.
Antonyms: construct, create, guard, promote.
Usage: The massive earthquake annihilated many towns and villages.

4. ALACRITY (noun) तत्परता
Meaning: brisk and cheerful readiness.
Synonyms: eagerness, willingness, readiness; enthusiasm.
Antonyms: apathy, dullness, lethargy, hesitation.
Usage: He solved the puzzles with alacrity and in no time.

5. FITFUL (adjective) चंचल
Meaning: often stopping and starting and not happening in a regular or continuous way.
Synonyms: sporadic, spasmodic, broken, disturbed.
Antonyms: constant, equable, regular, even.
Usage: There was much noise and so I had a fitful sleep.

6. ELATION (noun) उत्साह
Meaning:  a state of extreme happiness or excitement.
Synonyms: happiness, exhilaration, joy, joyousness.
Antonyms: depression, despair, gloom, sorrow.
Usage: Their elation on our victory in Kargil was boundless.

7.DISCREET (adjective) विचारशील
Meaning: careful and prudent in one’s speech or actions, especially in order to keep something confidential or to avoid embarrassment.
Synonyms: careful, circumspect, cautious, wary.
Antonyms: absturd, senseless, ill-advised, imprudent.
Usage: He took his time but ultimately made a discreet choice.

8. PARSIMONIOUS (adjective) किफ़ायती
Meaning: not willing to spend money or to give or use a lot of something.
Synonyms: mean, miserly, niggardly, close-fisted.
Antonyms: extravagent, generous, liberal, spendthrift.
Usage: There living was parsimonious.

9. LOFTY (adjective) बुलंद
Meaning: elevated in character and spirit.
Synonyms: tall, high, giant, towering.
Antonyms: dwarfish, short, petty, modest.
Usage: Himalaya is the mountain with many lofty peaks always clad in snow and ice.

10. MELLOW (adjective) मधुर
Meaning: pleasantly smooth or soft; free from harshness.
Synonyms: dulcet, sweet-sounding, tuneful, euphonious.
Antonyms: harsh, dry, raw, sapless.
Usage: She was hypnotized by the mellow tone of his voice.
