Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. REVOKE (Verb) : रद्द करना
Meaning: officially cancel (a decree, decision, or promise).
Synonyms: cancel, repeal, rescind, reverse, abrogate, annul,
Antonyms: introduce, enact, ratify
Example: The suspension of cross-LoC trade will cause hardship , it must be revoked.

2. DETERRENCE (Noun) : अवरोध
Meaning: the action of discouraging an action or event through instilling doubt or fear of the consequences.
Synonyms: determent, disincentive, dissuasion
Example: Deterrence of aggression also demands forward defense.

3. CONSTERNATION (Noun) : सनसनी
Meaning: a feeling of anxiety or dismay, typically at something unexpected.
Synonyms:  perturbation, anxiety, distress, disquiet,
Antonyms: satisfaction
Example: I sleep in consternation not knowing where my keys are.


4. EXTOL (Verb) : प्रशंसा करना
Meaning: praise enthusiastically.
Synonyms: eulogize, acclaim
Antonyms: criticize
Example: I got angry when my mother would extol my brother’s accomplishments and ignore all the good things I did.

5. MOOT (Adjective) : विवादास्पद
Meaning: subject to debate, dispute, or uncertainty.
Synonyms: debatable, arguable, problematic, contentious
Antonyms: certain, definite
Example: It is again a moot point whether India’s ASAT test, and its positioning as a critical element in India’s strategic defence capability, will have the desired impact that the nation’s leaders hope for.

6. OBLIVIOUS (Adjective) : बेख़बर
Meaning: not aware of or concerned about what is happening around one.
Synonyms: unaware, unconscious, heedless, unmindful
Antonyms: aware, conscious
Example: The huge dog closed its eyes and appeared oblivious to the crawling baby.

7. PLETHORA (Noun) : अधिकता
Meaning: a large or excessive amount of something.
Synonyms: excess, abundance, overabundance, superfluity
Antonyms: dearth, lack
Example: He eagerly accepted the job because it came with a plethora of opportunities.

8. WAGGISH (Adjective) : शरारती
Meaning: humorous in a playful, mischievous, or facetious manner.
Synonyms: playful, roguish, impish, mischievous
Example: The waggish employees played computer games and completed very little work when their boss was out of the office.

9. STAUNCH (Adjective) : निष्ठावान
Meaning: very loyal and committed in attitude.
Synonyms: stalwart, loyal, faithful, trusty, committed
Antonyms: disloyal, unfaithful, unreliable
Example: Although Joseph considers himself to be a staunch Republican, he has not voted for a Republican candidate in over six years.

10. VENAL (Adjective) : भ्रष्ट
Meaning: showing or motivated by susceptibility to bribery; corrupt.
Synonyms: corrupt, buyable
Antonyms: honourable, honest
Example: The venal police officer accepted the money the drug dealers gave him to look away from their illegal deals.
