Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. RESCIND : रद्द करना
Meaning: to make a law, agreement, order, or decision no longer have any (legal) power
Synonyms: abolish, abrogate
Antonyms: allow, approve
Example: The policy of charging air travelers for vegetarian meals proved unpopular and has already been rescinded.


2. ABYSMAL : बहुत बुरा
Meaning: very bad
Synonyms: dreadful, awful
Antonyms: good, amazing
Example: This experiment could help a lot of people, or it could be an abysmal failure.


3. HOARD : ढेर
Meaning: to collect large amounts of something and keep it in a safe, often secret, place
Synonyms: accumulation, backlog
Antonyms: debt, lack
Example: During the siege people began hoarding food and supplies.


4. SURGE : वृद्धि
Meaning: a sudden and great increase
Synonyms: deluge, growth
Antonyms: decline, decrease
Example: A special system prevents the circuitry being tripped accidentally by a power surge or lightning strike.


5. AMNESTY : आम माफ़ी
Meaning: a decision by a government to forgive people who have committed particular illegal acts or crimes, and not to punish them
Synonyms: forgiveness, absolution
Antonyms: conviction, sentence
Example: The state has declared an amnesty for individuals who pay their outstanding back taxes.


6. EMPHATIC : प्रभावी, मज़बूत
Meaning: done or said in a strong way and without any doubt
Synonyms: aggressive, assertive
Antonyms: weak, halting
Example: Towards the end of the eighteenth century, people began to see revolutions as emphatic disruptions of the past, as new points in a line.


7. INFRINGE : उल्लंघन करना
Meaning: to act in a way that is against a law or that limits someone’s rights or freedom
Synonyms: breach, break
Antonyms: serve, summit
Example: The senator is opposed to any laws that infringe on a citizen’s right to free speech.


8. EMANCIPATE : स्वतंत्र करना
Meaning: to give people social or political freedom and rights
Synonyms: discharge, liberate
Antonyms: confine, restrain
Example: Produce a bill to emancipate the slaves in the District of Columbia, or, if you prefer it, to emancipate those born hereafter.


9. ADORATION : आराधना
Meaning: deep love, devotion, and respect
Synonyms: love, affection
Antonyms: hatred, dislike
Example: Uncritical language adoration makes way for a more objective attitude.


10. REVERE : प्रशंसा करना
Meaning: to regard someone or something with great respect or devotion
Synonyms: admire, adore
Antonyms: criticize
Example: It’s a sad truth that many Americans revere movie stars and sports figures as demi-gods.
