10. 6th Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessel “VAJRA” launched
The 6th Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) “VAJRA” has been launched in Chennai. The Coast Guard’s Offshore Patrol Vessel is expected to strengthen the efforts Indian Coast Guard in securing the vast coastline of over 7500 km, including an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of over 20 lakh sq kms.
11. Rajnath Singh inaugurates new Helicopter Production Hangar at HAL
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the new Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Production Hangar at Helicopter Division in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Complex at Bengaluru, Karnataka. LCH is a 5.5-tonne class combat helicopter designed and developed by HAL. It is powered by two Shakti engines and inherits many technical features of the Advanced Light Helicopter. LCH has the distinction of being the first attack helicopter to land in forwarding Bases at Siachen, 4,700 mts above sea level with 500kg load.

12. Aadhaar-enabled Payment System rolled out by Airtel Payments Bank
The Airtel Payments Bank has launched the Aadhaar-enabled Payment System (AePS). The facility has been launched by the payment bank at over 2,50,000 banking points across India.
13. External Benchmark Based Lending to Medium Enterprises
The Reserve Bank of India has directed all Scheduled Commercial Banks (excluding RRBs), all Small Finance Banks and all Local Area Banks to link all the new floating rate loans to medium enterprises with external benchmarks. The decision has been taken by the RBI to further strengthen the monetary policy transmission.
The floating rate loans shall be benchmarked to one of the following:
- Reserve Bank of India policy repo rate
- Government of India 3-Months Treasury Bill yield published by the Financial Benchmarks India Private Ltd (FBIL)
- Government of India 6-Months Treasury Bill yield published by the FBIL
- Any other benchmark market interest rate published by the FBIL.

19. Centenarian vedic scholar Sudhakar Chaturvedi passes away
Centenarian freedom fighter and Vedic scholar Sudhakar Krishna Rao, widely known as Sudhakar Chaturvedi passed away. He was born in a Madhva family and became a disciple of Swami Shraddhananda, the disciple of the founder of Arya Samaj Swami Dayananda. During the freedom struggle, he was associated with Mahatma Gandhi and been imprisoned in different jails across the country. He had penned about 50 books in Kannada, English and Sanskrit, which include 20 volumes of Veda translation in Kannada.
