Hindi Now Mandatory as Third Language in Classes 1–5 in Maharashtra
- In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Maharashtra school education department will implement a phase-wise curriculum reform starting 2025–26, making Hindi mandatory as a third language for Classes 1 to 5 in Marathi and English-medium schools.
- This move aligns with the three-language formula, already followed by other medium schools, and aims to promote multilingual proficiency and national integration.
- The rollout is aligned with NEP’s 5+3+3+4 structure, beginning from Class 1 in the Foundational Stage.

- SJVN Ltd has released ₹269.97 crore as land compensation for the 3,097 MW Etalin Hydro Electric Project in Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, marking a crucial step in India’s renewable energy expansion.
- Announced on March 26, 2025, the payment supports the development of two dams on the Dri and Talo Rivers and an underground powerhouse, with project commissioning set for December 2033.

- Triggered by a surge in low-cost imports from China, South Korea, and Japan, this move follows a DGTR investigation revealing “serious injury” to local manufacturers.
- The duty applies to key non-alloy and alloy flat steel products like hot-rolled coils, cold-rolled sheets, and colour-coated steel, aiming to counter unfair competition and restore market balance.

RBI Permits Minors Above 10 to Operate Bank Accounts Independently
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued revised guidelines allowing minors aged 10 years and above to independently open and operate savings and term deposit accounts, promoting early financial literacy.
- While minors of any age can open accounts via a parent or legal guardian, those above 10 may operate them independently, subject to the bank’s risk management policy. Banks must ensure no overdrafts and maintain a credit balance, and obtain fresh instructions once the minor attains majority.
