• This five-day Mahakumbh of Stamps is being celebrated from 11^th February to 15th February 2023 and is being organized as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations.
• Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Postal department has transformed totally and has become a digital network for banking, service delivery, and social security payments network.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates Aero India 2023 with hopes of local production boost

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of its flagship aero show in Bengaluru, an event seen to be a great business opportunity when New Delhi is looking to push indigenous products, modernise Soviet-era equipment and as domestic carriers add fleet.

4. Russian Arms Supplies to India Worth $13 bn in past 5 years

• Russian state news agencies reported that India received arms worth around $13 billion from Russia in the past five years. Moreover, New Delhi has further placed orders with Moscow for weapons and military equipment exceeding $10 billion.

• Ramesh Bais has earlier served as the Governor of Jharkhand. President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

7. Paytm releases a QR Code with a G20 theme to commemorate India’s presidency

• In honour of India’s G20 presidency and the nation’s prominence in mobile payments, One97 Communications Limited, the owner of the top payments and financial services startup Paytm, unveiled a special G20-themed QR Code.
• Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways and IT, introduced the QR code at the India Habitat Center’s “Digital Payment Utsav.”
• Paytm was a key player in the development of mobile payments in India and is regarded as the inventor of QR code payments.
• The “DigiDhan Mission” logo from MeitY, the G20 2023 logo, and the 75th anniversary of India’s independence are all included in the special commemorative QR code.

9. 12th World Hindi Conference Inaugurated at Fiji

• External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to inaugurate the three-day event’ the 12th World Hindi Conference on 15th February at the Pacific Island nation.
• The 12^th World Hindi Conference, scheduled to be held at Nadi from 15th February to 17^th February 2023, will be on the theme “Hindi – Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence”.
• The conference will be spread over one plenary session and ten parallel sessions on topics such as Hindi in Girmitiya countries, Hindi in Fiji and the Pacific, Information Technology, and Hindi in the 21st century.
• It also includes topics such as Media and the global perception of Hindi; global reference to Indian knowledge traditions and Hindi; Linguistic coordination and Hindi translation.
• Parallel sessions on different forms of Hindi cinema and the global scenario, global market and Hindi, Pravasi Hindi literature in the changing scenario, and Hindi teaching in India and abroad, challenges and solutions will also be held.

10. Annual Meeting of Members of the River Cities Alliance ‘DHARA’ to be held in Pune

• DHARA, Driving Holistic Action for Urban Rivers, the annual meeting of the members of the River Cities Alliance (RCA) is organized by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMGC), partnered with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) from 13^th to 14^th February 2023 in Pune.
• The Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will address the inaugural event while the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore will deliver the valedictory address on day two.
• The DHARA event has strong synergies with the Urban20 initiative under the ambit of India’s G20 Presidency.

11. President of India Inaugurated the 2nd Indian Rice Congress at Cuttack

• The 2nd Indian Rice Congress 2023 was inaugurated in Cuttack by President Droupadi Murmu in the presence of Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, and Odisha Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Fisheries, and Animal Resource Development, Ranendra Pratap Swain.
• President Murmu informed that India is the leading consumer and exporter of rice, for which a lot of credit goes to the institute, but when the country became independent, the situation was different.
• In the inauguration ceremony the President informed that as irrigation facilities expanded in the last century, rice was grown in new places and found new consumers. Paddy crop requires large amounts of water, but many parts of the world are facing severe water scarcity due to climate change.
• The President also noted that rice is the basis of our food security, and its nutritional aspects should also be considered.

• World Radio Day is celebrated every year on February 13 to mark the important role that radio plays in our lives and in society.
• The objective of World Radio Day is to raise public awareness of the importance of radio and to encourage decision makers to use it to provide access to information, and to improve international co-operation among broadcasters.
• In 2023, the theme for the World Radio Day is “Radio and Peace” which aims to focus on the importance of independent radio to foster peace and prevent conflict. The theme for World Radio Day changes each year and is designed to focus attention on specific aspects of the role of radio in society.

13. India celebrates National Productivity Day every year on February 12

• The annual celebration of National Productivity Day is observed on February 12, coordinated by the National Productivity Council (NPC).
• The NPC’s mission is to promote awareness towards increasing the productivity of the country. The day is celebrated as part of National Productivity Week, which is observed from February 12 to 18.
• This year’s National Productivity Day theme is “Productivity, Green Growth, and Sustainability: Celebrating India’s G20 Presidency.”  The theme highlights the fact that everybody should give themselves a chance to set productivity goals and work towards them.

14. World Unani Day 2023 celebrated on 11th February

• World Unani Day is observed on February 11 every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of social reformer and renowned Unani scholar Hakim Ajmal Khan, widely regarded as the pioneer of Unani medicine in India.
• The day commemorates Hakim Ajmal Khan’s contribution to the growth of Unani medicine in India and throughout the world. Hakim Ajmal Khan, who was born on February 11, 1868, was an educator, a Unani physician, and the founder of scientific study in the Unani system of medicine.
• On February 10 and 11, the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, Ministry of AYUSH, host an international conference on Unani medicine in a hybrid virtual mode with the theme “Unani Medicine for Public Health” in Delhi.
• The conference’s main goal is to debate the value of using Unani medicine to treat non-communicable illnesses and other chronic conditions while also enabling public health experts to work together, think outside the box, and influence the direction of public health with Unani medicine.

15. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari awarded with Maharashtra Bhushan award

• The state government of Maharashtra has announced that renowned social worker, preacher and reformer Dattatreya alias Appasaheb Dharmadikari will be honoured with Maharashtra Bhushan award for the year 2022.
• The Maharashtra Bhushan award comprises a medal, a citation and Rs 25 lakh, which will be conferred to Appasaheb at a function later in the year. Appasaheb was honoured with Padmashri in 2017.
• Nanasaheb, also known as the ambassador of cleanliness, trust has been undertaking various programmes, including environment-friendly initiatives like production of fertilisers through remains of Ganesh idols after visarjan.
• The Maharashtra Bhushan is a highest civilian award presented annually by the Government of Maharashtra State in India.

16. Angela Merkel awarded UNESCO Peace Prize in Ivory Coast

• For her assistance to refugees in Germany, former German chancellor Angela Merkel was awarded the UNESCO peace prize. According to Politico, the former German leader received the UN prize for her choice to accept the refugees into German territory back in 2015.
• The occasion took place in Yamoussoukro, the capital of the Ivory Coast, where the chancellor received the “Felix Houphout-Boigny UNESCO Peace Prize.” Merkel thanked the jurors and spoke about the fate of Ukrainian refugees in her acceptance speech.
• The 68-year-old lawmaker was complimented for her work by the award jury’s president, Denis Mukwege, a year prior to receiving the honour.
• Her selfless choice in 2015 to accept more than 1,2 million refugees, particularly those from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Eritrea, moved every jury member.

• India batter Shubman Gill was  named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for January following a series of impressive innings in the ODI format, while England U-19 skipper Grace Scrivens became the youngest player to be named for the women’s honour.

19. DMRC: India To Get Its First National Metro Rail Knowledge Centre In Delhi

• GA Infra Pvt Ltd, a leading infrastructure company in India, has been awarded the contract for designing and constructing the country’s first National Metro Rail Knowledge Centre. The centre will be located at the Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station in Delhi and built on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
• The National Metro Rail Knowledge Centre will serve as a hub for knowledge and innovation in the metro rail system, providing a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and collaborate.
• It will be a one-of-a-kind facility in India, aimed at promoting the growth and development of the metro rail sector.
