Government has informed in Lok Sabha that over 6 lakh posts are lying vacant in various departments and around 3.10 lakh jobs will be notified soon by different Ministries.

Minister of State Jitendra Singh through a written reply informed in Lok Sabha that out of total 38,02,779 sanctioned strength the employees that were in position were only 31,18,956 as per the data gathered until March 1, 2018. The vacancies had arisen due to retirements, deaths and promotions of various officers in charge. The posts fell vacant majorly due to the above mentioned reasons and had to be filled as per the recruitment standards of ministries.
During 2019-20 that is the current year, the major 3 agencies that conduct heavy recruitment across India on Government vacancies that is Union Public Service Commission, UPSC, Staff Selection Commission, SSC, and Railway Recruitment board had made recommendations of around 1.34 lakh posts. The RRB has recently released 35000 vacancies of NTPC posts and Group D posts. Over 11000 vacancies were released by Staff Selection Commission last year.
RRB which stands for Railway Recruitment Board released the highest recommendations around 1, 6,391 followed by SSC which were 13,995 and UPSC recommending 4399 posts in all. He further added that the agencies like SSC, RRB, Postal Service Board and Ministry of Defence are in process of filling up more than 3 lakh vacant posts including those of defence civilians which are around 27,000 approx.
The minister also said that recruitment should be a continuous process and the vacancies by the time are created and are filled create a gap in the time of it being filled which makes it deemed abolished.
